André Faaij

André Faaij is a Professor of Energy System Analysis at Utrecht University's Faculty of Geosciences, embedded in the Energy & Resources section of the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development. He is also a Distinguished Professor at the University of Groningen and serves as Director of Science & Technology and Principal Scientist at TNO Energy & Materials Transition.

• Research focuses on integrated energy system analysis, addressing economic, societal, and environmental impacts of the energy transition.
• Key areas: biobased economy, CO2 capture, hydrogen economy, sustainability assessments, and technological innovation in energy systems.
• Active in international advisory roles, including the European Research Council (ERC), World Energy Outlook, and UNIDO panel on sustainable industries.
• National leadership roles: Chair of the Netherlands Energy Research Alliance (NERA) Scientific Board and advisor to the GreenGold Label and SkyNRG's Sustainability Board.
