André Drummond is a Visiting Professor at Technische Universität Braunschweig (TUBS), Germany, collaborating with Prof. Admela Jukan's research group. He holds an Associate Professor position at the University of Brasília (UnB) in Brazil, currently on a three-year leave of absence. His primary affiliation is with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and Physics at TUBS, within the Department of Computer and Network Engineering.
Dr. Drummond earned his Computing Engineering degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (2002), followed by a Master's (2005) and Ph.D. (2010) in Computer Science from the University of Campinas. His doctoral research, funded by Cisco’s URP project, focused on traffic engineering for IP over WDM networks. He has extensive experience in optical networks, traffic engineering, and multi-service network optimization, gained through projects like INCT Photonics for Optical Communications and the Inter-Domain Peering Project with TUBS.
His research interests emphasize optical networks, network architecture design, and quality-of-service (QoS) solutions in advanced networks. Though currently without listed publications here, his work has addressed challenges in dynamic traffic grooming, robust network systems, and optical internet infrastructure. He has held visiting roles at TUBS before (2018–2019 via CNPq funding) and continues collaborating internationally on network innovation.
Professional service includes participation in strategic research initiatives such as the Taquara project (CNPq) and the Optical Internet Laboratory (FAPESP). His career reflects a strong trajectory in both academia and applied research, bridging Brazil and Germany in network engineering advancements.
