Andrzej Bajguz is a Professor and Vice-Dean for Science at the Faculty of Biology, University of Białystok. He leads the Plant Biochemistry Laboratory and serves on multiple academic committees, including the University Senate and the Scientific Council of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences. His research focuses on plant hormones (brassinosteroids, ecdysteroids, auxins), heavy metal toxicity mitigation, and nectar chemistry in plants. He holds editorial roles in journals like Journal of Plant Growth Regulation and Frontiers in Plant Science.
Research Interests: His work explores brassinosteroid signaling, plant responses to environmental stressors (e.g., cadmium, lead), and the role of phytohormones in detoxification mechanisms. He investigates nectar composition in orchids and other flowering plants, linking floral traits to pollinator adaptation. Recent studies include the application of nanoparticles in plant biology and phytohormone biosynthesis pathways.
Publications: Over 150 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including works on brassinosteroid-mediated stress tolerance, compost-derived plant hormones, and ecological impacts of heavy metals.
Affiliations: Member of the Polish Society of Experimental Plant Biology, Polish Botanical Society, and editorial boards of multiple plant science journals. Active in organizing scientific conferences and mentoring researchers in plant biochemistry and environmental biology.
