Andrij Pich

Andrij Pich is a Full Professor holding a personal chair in Biobased Polymers and Materials at Maastricht University's Faculty of Science and Engineering, affiliated with the AMIBM (Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials). Concurrently, he serves as Lichtenberg Professor for Functional and Interactive Polymers at RWTH Aachen University since 2009. His academic journey includes a PhD from TU Dresden (2001), postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto, and habilitation at TU Dresden (2008).

Professor Pich's research encompasses:

• Stimuli-responsive polymers and colloidal systems
• Controlled synthesis via RAFT/ATRP polymerization
• Design of functional micro/nanogels
• Biobased polymer development
• Applications in biomaterials, catalysis, and functional coatings

His recent publications (2025) demonstrate strong focus on:

• Advanced microgel architectures (dendrimer, hybrid, asymmetric)
• Biomedical applications (drug delivery, gene therapy)
• Sustainable biobased polyester systems
• Innovative characterization techniques (FLIM nanoscopy)
• Novel synthesis methods (spray microdroplets, photoresponsive systems)
