معرفی
Andrew Zipkin is an Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University's School of Human Evolution and Social Change. His research focuses on archaeology, geochemistry, and ancient DNA analysis, with a particular emphasis on prehistoric human behavior, mobility patterns, and material culture. He employs advanced analytical techniques such as strontium isotope mapping, geochemical fingerprinting, and machine learning to study artifacts and human remains from Africa's archaeological record.
Zipkin's work bridges archaeology, geology, and genetics to reconstruct socio-territoriality, trade networks, and technological innovation in prehistoric societies. His recent publications address topics like the transatlantic slave trade's genetic legacy, ochre pigment provenance, and heat treatment effects on silcrete tools. He has contributed to studies at sites in Malawi, South Africa, and the Kenya Rift Valley.
His methodological innovations include non-destructive colorimetry for material analysis and experimental approaches to prehistoric adhesives and hunting technologies. Despite no listed awards or grants here, his work has advanced understanding of hominin brain evolution and Middle Stone Age technological developments.
