Andrew Young is a Research Fellow at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Deakin University, since 2023. He chairs Deakin's Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) Advisory Board and leads the Victorian Branch of the Australasian Study of Parliament Group (ASPG), while serving as an external member of the Australian Senate's Audit Committee.
His educational background includes:

His work analyzes tensions between transparency imperatives and legal constraints in oversight institutions, with particular focus on how parliamentary committees and independent inspectors maintain institutional legitimacy while protecting ongoing investigations.
His recent publication on Australia's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) evaluates its inaugural-year performance through the lens of the Robodebt scheme decision, revealing challenges in balancing public expectations for accountability with operational necessities of corruption investigations.
Professional engagement includes shaping policy discourse through ASPG leadership and Senate committee oversight, demonstrating applied commitment to strengthening democratic accountability systems within Australian governance frameworks.
