Andrew Wingfield is a Professor at the School of Integrative Studies (SIS) at George Mason University, specializing in Fiction and Nonfiction Writing and Sustainability Studies. He has played a pivotal role in shaping Mason’s sustainability curriculum, including directing the Environmental and Sustainability Studies BA program for a decade, creating the Sustainability Living Learning Community, and designing the Sustainability Studies Minor. His work emphasizes the interplay between human communities and their environments.
Research Interests include environmental and sustainability studies, Indigenous rights, and place-based storytelling. He collaborates extensively with Dr. Michael P. Gilmore on projects involving the Maijuna indigenous group in the Peruvian Amazon, focusing on biocultural conservation and environmental justice.
