Dr. Andrew Wallace is a Visiting Fellow at the School of Sociology and Social Policy, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Leeds. His research focuses on urban sociology, urban planning, social and urban policy, housing studies, left politics and movements, and infrastructures. He leads the ESRC-funded project “Prefabs Sprouting”, investigating disruptions in the UK’s housebuilding sector amid crises of housing accessibility, safety, affordability, and quality.
Research Interests: Wallace’s work critically examines the socio-political dimensions of urban development, particularly housing policy and left-wing movements. His current project addresses systemic flaws in modernization efforts within the UK’s housing sector, aiming to inform policy reforms.
Grants & Funding: As Principal Investigator (PI) of the ESRC grant ES/V015923/1, Wallace’s research is supported by the Economic and Social Research Council. This project underscores the urgency of addressing housing crises through interdisciplinary analysis.
