Research Interests
Cooper's work bridges modern phonological theory with Old English poetry, particularly through metrical models and quantitative analysis. His studies include the application of Government and Binding theory to poetic syntax and critical examinations of scholarly publishing practices affecting L2 writers. He has contributed to debates on predatory publishers and academic communication.
Publications and Analysis
His publications span corpus studies of Old English verse, critiques of publishing ethics, and historical linguistic frameworks. Articles often integrate computational methods with traditional philology, emphasizing the interaction between prosody and syntax. Cooper's 2017 thesis established a foundational metrical model for Old English poetry, while later works address sociolinguistic challenges in academic publishing.
