معرفی
Andrew Tan is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine and Deputy Director of the Center for Neuroscience and Regeneration Research (CNR) at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. His research focuses on spinal cord injury (SCI) mechanisms, specifically neuropathic pain and spasticity, with emphasis on dendritic spine remodeling and Rac1-PAK1 signaling pathways. He leads a team investigating therapeutic strategies to restore spinal function post-injury using in vivo imaging and viral gene therapy.
- Education: PhD in Neuroscience (Stony Brook University, 2006), BS from University of Rochester (2001)
- Postdoctoral training: Columbia University and Yale University
Research Interests: SCI pathology, chronic pain mechanisms, spinal plasticity, and translational neurotherapeutics. His work combines anatomical, electrophysiological, and behavioral approaches to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
Publications highlight innovations in dendritic spine analysis platforms (VR-based tools) and mechanistic insights into astrocyte-motor neuron interactions. Awards include travel grants for pain research and recognition for neuroscientific contributions.
Grant Leadership: Federal and private funding management for SCI research programs. Active collaborations with international teams in translational neuroscience.
