Anthony E Chiodo

Anthony E Chiodo, MD, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan Medical School. He serves as the Clinical Director of Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at the University of Michigan since 2002 and co-director for the U-M SCIMS program, focusing on multidisciplinary care and research for spinal cord injury (SCI) patients.

Dr. Chiodo’s research centers on pain management post-SCI, wellness optimization, and ventilator weaning efficacy. He has contributed to studies on Fampridine’s therapeutic applications for spasticity and restrictive lung disease, as well as projects like “Wellness in SCI” and “Predictors of Health, Quality of Life in Persons with Ventilator Assistance after SCI.”

His clinical expertise spans spinal cord injury medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine, EMG, and non-surgical spine interventions. Dr. Chiodo is board-certified in Pain Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Professional affiliations include the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Academy of Pediatrics, and American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He directs SCI services in the UMHS Adult Rehabilitation Unit and collaborates across clinics in Ann Arbor and Chelsea, MI.
