Andrew Sullivan

Andrew Sullivan is an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He leads the Birmingham Regional Transportation Data Center, a partnership with the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham, which monitors regional transportation performance and congestion. Sullivan has over 30 years of experience in transportation engineering, spanning academia and the private sector.

• BSCE, University of Pennsylvania
• MSCE, University of Alabama at Birmingham

Research & Teaching: Specializes in traffic control systems design, roadway geometric design, transportation simulation, and emerging technologies. He authored the Alabama DOT’s Traffic Signal Design Manual and collaborates with the University of Alabama on traffic simulation practices. Teaches CE 499: Senior Design Capstone Course and advises undergraduate civil engineering students via the UAB Appointment Manager.

Professional Engagement: Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) offering consulting services to industry. Active in developing transportation infrastructure standards and monitoring regional transportation systems.
