معرفی
Andrew Stephen Mason is a Lecturer in the Department of Biology at the University of York. He holds affiliations with the Jack Birch Unit and has held roles such as Research Fellow in Cancer Informatics. His work spans cancer informatics, transcriptomics, and genomics, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases, structural variants, and molecular mechanisms in kidney disease.
Education:
- PhD in 'The abundance and diversity of endogenous retroviruses in the chicken genome' from the Roslin Institute (2013–2017)
Research Interests:
- Explores molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases like ALS/FTD using in vitro models
- Investigates structural genomic variations in poultry using pangenome approaches
- Examines kidney disease pathogenesis through single-cell transcriptomics
Grants & Projects:
- Principal Investigator for the BBSRC-funded project 'Novel omic characterisation of ALVEs' (2021–2022)
Labs & Teams: Associated with the Jack Birch Unit and collaborates with international teams on genomic and disease modeling projects.
