Andrew S. Reeve is a Professor in the School of Earth and Climate Sciences at the University of Maine, where he conducts research and teaches in the fields of hydrogeology, environmental geology, and computational data analysis. His office is located at the Bryand Global Sciences Center in Orono, ME.
His research focuses on groundwater flow and solute transport in peatland and wetland systems, carbon cycling in such environments, and the application of computer simulations to interpret field observations. He employs U.S. Geological Survey software such as MODFLOW and PHREEQC, combined with Python scripting (using flopy), to model and analyze hydrogeological processes.
Dr. Reeve teaches a range of courses including introductory Environmental Geology, Hydrogeology, Python Scripting for Data Analysis, and Groundwater Modeling. He has also taught Engineering Geology and Fresh Water Flows (Introduction to Hydrology). His educational approach emphasizes the integration of programming and data analysis into earth sciences.
He actively promotes the use of Python in scientific data manipulation and modeling, providing resources through his personal website. While no specific publications or awards are listed in the provided text, his work demonstrates a strong interdisciplinary focus on environmental systems and computational methods.
He is involved in guiding environmental data interpretation and modeling projects and welcomes collaboration and inquiries. He can be contacted at asreeve@maine.edu.
