Andrew Rose

Professor Andrew Rose is a Professor in the Department of Engineering within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University, serving as Academic Director, Industry Collaboration in the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor (Research and Education Impact) and Deputy Chair (Students) of the University Academic Board.

Research Interests

Specializing in aquatic chemistry and circular economy, Professor Rose investigates biogeochemical interfaces of aquatic microorganisms, wastewater treatment, and thermal processing of organic solid wastes. His work bridges environmental engineering with sustainable resource recovery, emphasizing mechanistic chemical perspectives to address waste management challenges through circular economy models.

Supervision and Grants

He has supervised seven PhD graduates and currently mentors six postgraduate researchers (five PhD, one Master's). As Chief Investigator, he secured ARC and CRC funding for projects advancing environmental engineering and circular economy initiatives, including the ReCirculator program.

Labs and Teams

Professor Rose leads the ReCirculator (Regional Circular Economy Accelerator) program promoting circular economy adoption in NSW's Northern Rivers Region. He is affiliated with the Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry and National Centre for Flood Research, driving interdisciplinary environmental solutions.
