Andrew Roberts

Andrew Roberts is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Utah, affiliated with the Biological Chemistry Program. His research focuses on chemical synthesis of peptide- and protein-based therapeutics, with emphasis on chemoselective methods for peptide ligation, macrocyclization, and modification.

The Roberts laboratory develops innovative strategies for peptide engineering, leveraging structural elements from ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides. Recent work explores radical SAM enzymes for cross-linking, computational design of lasso peptides, and targeted alpha therapy applications for neurodegenerative diseases. Research spans organic chemistry, molecular biology, and medicinal chemistry, with notable contributions to macrocyclization techniques and oncogenic protein synthesis.
