معرفی
Andrew Pitt is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Manchester, specializing in Analytical, Measurements, and Physical Chemistry. He leads the Manchester Institute for Biotechnology and chairs the CAMS (Community for Analytical Measurement Science). His research focuses on chemical biology using mass spectrometry to study proteins, lipids, and metabolites in biological systems.
Education: BSc from the University of Bristol (1986), DPhil in Biochemistry from Oxford University (1990). Postdoctoral work at Cambridge University as Schering Fellow of Bioorganic Chemistry. Academic roles include lecturer at Strathclyde, proteomics director at Glasgow, and visiting professor at Aston University (2022–2027).
Research interests include lipid analysis, metabolomics, and proteomics applied to microbiome interactions, biomanufacturing (e.g., CHO cells), and oxidative stress in disease. He collaborates on EPSRC-funded projects to optimize biopharmaceutical production and uses isotopic tracers to map metabolic pathways.
Grants and collaborations include an EPSRC Prosperity Partnership for CHO cell engineering and a project on SARS-CoV-2 antigen detection with mass spectrometry. His work contributes to UN SDGs through advancements in healthcare and sustainable biomanufacturing.
