Andrew Percy is a Professor in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work at Queen's University Belfast, affiliated with the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice (ICCJ). His research focuses on adolescent development, particularly risk-taking behaviors such as alcohol/drug use and crime, and interventions to mitigate their harms. He emphasizes quantitative methods, including longitudinal studies and statistical modeling. Percy teaches courses on criminology, data visualization, and advanced statistics. He has led and contributed to multiple funded projects, including evaluations of prevention programs like STAMPP and BYDS. His work has been recognized with awards such as the STAR Performance Award and nominations for excellence in supervision and staff performance.
Key research themes include: 1) origins and outcomes of adolescent risk-taking, 2) testing preventive interventions, and 3) advancing quantitative methodologies in criminology.
