Andrew Parks

Andrew Parks is the Britt-Hoffman Professor of Large Animal Medicine and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. His academic roles include leadership in academic affairs and specialized expertise in large animal medicine. Dr. Parks holds a VetMB from the University of Cambridge (1981) and an MS from Michigan State University (1989).

His research focuses on lameness diagnostics and surgical interventions in horses and cattle, particularly abdominal surgery and equine foot disorders. He teaches advanced surgical courses including General Surgery Practicum and Bovine Surgery. Over 36 publications span therapeutic farriery innovations, laminitis treatment, and surgical training methodologies.

His work emphasizes translational research between clinical practice and education, with notable contributions to veterinary surgical education models and diagnostic imaging advancements. Current efforts include improving surgical training techniques and understanding equine hoof biomechanics through advanced imaging technologies.
