Andrew O'Connor is an Assistant Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at St. Norbert College. His research focuses on interfaith relations and human rights, with significant fieldwork conducted during his Ph.D. studies at the University of Notre Dame. He has extensive experience in Jordan through a Fulbright grant, collaborating with The Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS) founded by Prince Hassan bin Talal of Jordan. His work includes analyzing interfaith dialogues between Muslim scholars from diverse backgrounds and Catholic representatives from the Vatican.
During his Fulbright tenure, he engaged in high-level interactions such as a private meeting with Prince Hassan bin Talal, discussing the Fulbright Program and his research. He also observed a landmark interfaith conference in Amman where Muslim scholars from across the Islamic world debated human rights perspectives with Vatican representatives, highlighting intra-Muslim theological discourse. O’Connor emphasizes Jordan’s cultural significance beyond tourism, praising its archaeological wonders like Petra and Wadi Rum’s desert landscapes.
