Professor Andrew Morris is Head of Pharmacy and Professor of Pharmacy Education at Swansea University Medical School. He leads the development of the UK's newest MPharm programme and oversees internationalization initiatives within the Medical School. His research focuses on drug delivery systems, tissue engineering, pharmacy education, and health data science. Previously, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, where he contributed to establishing the first GPhC-accredited MPharm programme outside the UK.
His career spans academic and clinical roles: he practiced as a community pharmacist and primary care advisor before entering academia. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a registered pharmacist with the GPhC. Key grants include projects on bioactive materials for tissue regeneration (EU-funded 2012–2016) and palm oil-based drug delivery systems (2007–2010).
Research interests integrate pharmaceutical science with education innovation, emphasizing translational applications. Notable publications explore transdermal drug delivery, polymeric micelles in diabetes treatment, and pandemic impacts on medication dispensing. Morris also leads interdisciplinary teams using health data science to address clinical challenges like polypharmacy in dementia patients.
