Andrew Morris is Professor of History and Department Chair at Union College. He earned A.B. from Brown University and M.A./Ph.D. from University of Virginia. His research examines disaster relief policy through historical lenses, notably via Hurricane Camille (1969), within broader American political development.
Publications analyze voluntarism-welfare state relationships from New Deal to Great Society eras. Award-winning works include the Virginia Hodgkinson Prize book The Limits of Voluntarism and Ellis Hawley Award-winning article on voluntary poverty efforts. Teaching integrates Schenectady's local history into American political and environmental history courses.
