Andrew Lynn, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville. His research focuses on how brain development influences children’s attention and academic abilities, particularly examining the role of early environments. He uses neuroimaging (e.g., fMRI), eye tracking, and advanced statistical methods to explore these mechanisms. Dr. Lynn holds a PhD from Brown University (2020), an Sc.M. from Brown (2016), and a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University (2011). He is currently reviewing graduate applications and has openings for research assistants.
Research Interests: Dr. Lynn investigates neurocognitive processes underlying attention and math development. His work integrates behavioral assessments, machine learning, and neuroimaging to uncover how early environments shape brain development. Key themes include visual selective attention, socioemotional adversity impacts, and translational research for educational policies.
Recent Trends in Publications: His work spans developmental cognitive neuroscience, with a focus on autism spectrum disorder, neuroplasticity, and math skill prediction through brain connectivity. He frequently explores how adversity and socioeconomic factors influence neurocognitive outcomes, advocating for evidence-based interventions.
Advising & Grants: Actively mentoring graduate students and supervising research assistants. Current projects include studies on neurocognitive mechanisms of math development and longitudinal environmental impact analyses. He collaborates extensively with institutions like Brown University and the University of Pittsburgh.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Laboratory of Brain and Attention Development, focusing on interdisciplinary approaches to child neurocognitive development. The lab employs state-of-the-art neuroimaging tools and behavioral paradigms to advance translational research in education and clinical contexts.
