Dr. Andrew Lutzkanin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. He maintains a full 'cradle-to-grave' family medicine practice with a focus on Women’s Health and Obstetrics, including prenatal care, labor and delivery, and newborn care. His clinical roles include membership in the FCM-OB group and inpatient rounds on the Family Medicine service. He is also active in medical education, serving as co-course director for Health Systems’ value-based care and health policy components, and co-teaching a History of Medicine Humanities elective for fourth-year students.
Dr. Lutzkanin’s research emphasizes improving perinatal outcomes through pre-conception and inter-conception health screening and interventions. His scholarly work addresses topics such as congenital infections, maternal immunization, and evidence-based labor management practices. He has published in peer-reviewed journals like Medical Clinics of North America and Primary Care - Clinics in Office Practice.
Dr. Lutzkanin holds board certification in Family Medicine (since 2015) and is a member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians, and other prominent medical societies. His awards include the Chair’s Award (2019), multiple Dean’s Awards for Teaching Excellence, and recognition as an Outstanding Teacher of Residents for Inpatient Medicine.
