Andrew Kung, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). He leads the clinical, research, and educational missions of MSK Kids, specializing in pediatric cancers, bone marrow transplantation, and precision medicine. His research focuses on cancer genomics and developing novel therapies for pediatric malignancies.
Dr. Kung earned his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine, completed residencies at Children's Hospital Boston, and fellowships at Children's Hospital Boston/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is board-certified in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
His research integrates cutting-edge technologies to identify molecular drivers of pediatric cancers and translate discoveries into clinical therapies. Key areas include cancer stem cells, epigenetic therapies, and targeted drug combinations.
He has received awards such as the Eugene D. O'Kelly Award and is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Dr. Kung oversees training programs to cultivate future pediatric oncology leaders and physician-scientists.
