Dr. Andrew J. Green is a Lecturer in the Music of Central and South America at King's College London's Department of Music, part of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. He serves as Research Impact Lead for Music and holds a PhD from Royal Holloway, University of London. His research focuses on intersections between music, politics, environmental issues, and activism in Mexico and Central America. Dr. Green speaks English, Spanish, and Polish, and has taught at institutions including the University of Glasgow and National Autonomous University of Mexico.
His key research areas include ecomusicology, music censorship, and the materiality of sound. Recent publications explore deforestation soundscapes, Mexico City hip-hop professionalization, and political campaign music. His upcoming book Making Mexican Rock (2024) examines post-Avándaro era music. He actively engages in public scholarship through media features on Eurovision linguistic trends and Bad Bunny's cultural impact.
Teaching focuses on ethnomusicology, Latin American music studies, and sound studies. His work bridges academic research with practical responses to environmental and political crises in the global South. Professional activities include organizing musicology conferences and participating in cultural policy initiatives.
