Andrew Haines is a Professor of Environmental Change and Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, affiliated with the Faculty of Public Health and Policy and the Department of Public Health, Environments and Society. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

His research focuses on the intersection of climate change, planetary health, and public health policy, including impacts of climate mitigation strategies on greenhouse gas emissions, health equity, and nutrition. Recent work explores nuclear disarmament, extreme heat resilience, and salinity in drinking water.
Key recent article trends highlight his leadership in synthesizing evidence for climate-health interlinkages, with emphasis on machine learning, system dynamics, and global capacity-building. He has contributed to major initiatives like the Lancet Commission on Planetary Health and the Pathfinder Initiative.
