Andrew H. Murr, MD, FACS, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. He previously held the Roger Boles, MD Endowed Chair in Otolaryngology Education from 2006-2016 and is a member of the Academy of Medical Educators at UCSF. Dr. Murr serves as an attending physician at UCSF campuses, with clinical focus in general otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.

Dr. Murr's research interests focus on fungal sinusitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, nasal polyps, and bioabsorbable steroid eluting stent technology. He has a longstanding clinical interest in craniomaxillofacial trauma surgery, particularly facial trauma management. His work also extends to underserved populations and medical education through mentoring and advisory colleges. With over 40 published journal articles and 20 book chapters, his scholarly contributions span diagnostic methods for chronic rhinosinusitis, facial trauma management, and innovative sinus treatments.

As an educator, Dr. Murr has been deeply involved in mentoring medical students and residents. He has served as the international representative for AOCMF North America to the AOCMF International Board, which focuses on teaching advanced craniomaxillofacial trauma care methods. Dr. Murr is also a Director of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has served as Treasurer of the Triological Society since 2013. He has provided peer review services for 6 scientific journals throughout his career. His leadership extends to developing consensus-based perioperative protocols, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Murr maintains active clinical practice at San Francisco General Hospital, where he pursues his interest in craniomaxillofacial trauma surgery. He is a Fellow in both the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. His professional memberships include the American Rhinological Society, the American College of Surgeons, the Society of University Otolaryngologists, and the Triological Society.
