Andrew Grundy

Dr Andrew Grundy is a Research Associate in the Division of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work at the University of Manchester’s School of Health Sciences. As Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Co-Lead, he focuses on critical approaches to co-production in mental health research, leveraging his lived experience of severe mental distress and service utilization.

His research explores service user perspectives on mental health service provision, risk assessment, and de-escalation strategies in clinical settings. Methodological expertise includes qualitative research, ethnography, and participatory design. Key projects include the EDITION de-escalation training program and the SUSTAIN initiative addressing antipsychotic medication side effects.
