معرفی
Andrew Goodman is the C.N.H. Long Professor and Chair of the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis at Yale School of Medicine, Yale University, where he also directs the Microbial Sciences Institute. His research investigates gut microbiome roles in health, disease, and drug response using microbial genetics and gnotobiotic models.
Education includes:
- BA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Princeton University (1999)
- PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Harvard University (2006)
- Postdoctoral training at Washington University School of Medicine (2010)
Research focuses on:
- Microbiome-drug interactions impacting pharmacology
- Molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen-commensal dynamics
- Bacterial competition and cooperation in the gut ecosystem
- Development of innovative tools for microbiome analysis
Publication trends reveal concentrated work in microbiome-mediated drug metabolism, bacterial adaptation mechanisms, and microbial ecology, with consistent emphasis on translational applications for human health.
Scientific awards include:
- Presidential Early Career Award in Science and Engineering
- NIH Director New Innovator Award
- Howard Hughes Medical Institute Faculty Scholar Award
- ASPET John J. Abel Award
- Burroughs Wellcome Fund Investigator
Leads the Goodman Lab developing genetic tools for gut microbiota research. Secured sustained funding through prestigious fellowships and institutional grants supporting microbiome therapeutics innovation.
