Andrew Goldstein

Andrew Goldstein is an Associate Professor at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in both the Department of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology and the Department of Urology. He is affiliated with the Broad Stem Cell Research Center and the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.

• Education: BA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Dartmouth College (2005), PhD in Molecular Biology from UCLA (2011)

Dr. Goldstein's research focuses on prostate epithelial cells in development, reproduction, aging, and tumorigenesis. His lab investigates how chronic inflammation and aging signatures drive prostate cancer through metabolic reprogramming and expansion of progenitor cells. Notably, his team discovered that MYC governs metabolic requirements during androgen receptor inhibition and that prostate lineage-specific metabolism influences differentiation and therapy response.

This work aligns with 15 recent publications demonstrating key roles of stem cells, inflammation, and metabolism in prostate cancer progression. His research has been cited extensively in journals like Nature Cell Biology, Science Signaling, and Cell Reports.
