Andrew Frank Simpson is a Research Fellow in the School of History at the University of St Andrews, specializing in Early Modern History with a focus on Reformation studies and Jacobite movements. He holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews and has completed academic qualifications including an MLitt in Women of the Jacobites and a BA in Theology from Hillsdale College.
His research explores topics such as Jacobite women’s roles, Hanoverian media strategies, and Protestant theological disputes. He has edited a significant work, A Disputation on Holy Scripture, and actively participates in international academic events, including the Padua-St Andrews Doctoral Seminar and presentations on Jacobite pedagogy and gender history.
Awarded the Richard M. Weaver Fellowship (2025), Simpson contributes to scholarly discussions through workshops and conferences, addressing themes like communication and power dynamics in historical contexts. His work bridges religious, political, and gendered dimensions of early modern Europe.
