Andrew Cooper is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Warwick. His research bridges philosophy of nature, mind, and life with historical perspectives, focusing on Kant, Hegel, and 19th-century thought. He holds visiting fellowships at UC San Diego (2018), the University of Chicago (2019), and the University of Pittsburgh (2023). Cooper earned a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sydney and completed postdoctoral work at the University of Bonn, Durham University, and University College London.
His research interests include Kantian natural history, teleology, and the intersection of philosophy with contemporary issues like community resilience. He co-directs the London Post-Kantian Seminar and serves on the UK Kant Society executive committee. Cooper actively engages the public through his BBC/AHRC New Generation Thinker role, hosting the podcast Daybreak, and co-leads the Empowering Young Voices project with Coventry Boys and Girls Club.
Publications span monographs like Kant and the Transformation of Natural History (2023) and Amalia Holst (2024), alongside articles in journals like Kantian Review and Studies in History and Philosophy of Science. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to philosophical history and societal engagement.
