معرفی
Dr. Andrew Capel is a Senior Lecturer in Bioengineering and Regenerative Sciences at Loughborough University's School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. He holds a PhD from the same institution and has expertise in bioengineered tissue models, 3D printing applications in biomedicine, and musculoskeletal systems. His career includes roles as a research associate and senior research associate, working with Prof. Mark Lewis on musculoskeletal bioengineering. He leads research in areas like bio-hybrid prosthetics, neuronal guidance systems, and vascularized tissue constructs.
Education:
- BSc in Chemistry and Sports Science (2010)
- MSc in Pharmaceutical Science and Medicinal Chemistry (2011)
- PhD in 3D Printing for Fluidic Devices (2014)
Research Interests: Focuses on bioengineered models of muscle and nervous systems, 3D-printed biomedical tools, and regenerative therapies. His work spans tissue engineering, neuro-regeneration, and biomedical material development. He collaborates with networks like the Rehabilitation Technologies Network and explores applications in drug testing and prosthetic design.
Labs & Collaborations: Engaged with Myomaker Bio, a contract research organization specializing in muscle biology testing. Active in the Lifestyle for Health and Wellbeing research group. Previously developed open-source 3D-printed fluidic systems and advanced bioengineered muscle constructs capable of functional regeneration.
