Andrew Brook

Andrew Brook is a Professor at Carleton University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of Philosophy. He also serves as a former Director of the Institute of Cognitive Science and current President of the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society. Brook earned a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Alberta and a D.Phil. from Oxford University.

His research interests include Kantian philosophy, consciousness studies, psychoanalytic theory, and environmental ethics. Brook's work explores the intersection of philosophy and cognitive science, with a focus on Kant's theories of mind, consciousness, and ethics. His recent publications emphasize Kant's influence on cognitive science, consciousness models, and interdisciplinary methodologies.

Brook has received support from the SSHRC Grants. He is recognized as a Distinguished Research Professor and has held leadership roles such as former President of the Canadian Philosophical Association. His contributions span editorial work, interdisciplinary research, and institutional development through roles like Director of the Institute of Cognitive Science.
