Andrew Bennett is an Assistant Professor of Commerce in the General Faculty at the University of Virginia, with an email address ab2ew@virginia.edu and office located in Rouss & Robertson Halls 213. He teaches courses such as Project and Product Management for the General Business Minor, drawing on his extensive 25-year career in both private and public sectors.

Professor Bennett’s research interests span a dynamic range of disciplines. His early work focused on physics-related topics, including coherent laser radar theory, charged device models of electrostatic discharge, and microelectronic component failure modes. Over the past 15 years, his research has shifted to organizational and systems engineering themes, particularly the effectiveness of lean and agile methodologies, employee engagement, collaborative versus hierarchical organizational structures, and change management strategies.
His professional experience includes leadership roles at Walmart, Anthem, SWIFT, Freddie Mac, Marriott, and the USMC, where he managed large programs in space systems, healthcare data analytics, metrology, and fintech. Most recently, he trained and led product management model implementation at the FDIC.
