Dr. Andrew Baron is a Professor and Area Coordinator in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Faculty of Arts. He directs the Living Lab at Science World and the Social Cognitive Development Lab, and is part of the Early Development Research Group. His research focuses on social cognition development, particularly mechanisms shaping implicit intergroup cognition and intergroup prejudice in children, integrating theories from social, cognitive, and developmental psychology. His work has implications for cognitive science, education, policy, and marketing. He holds a PhD (2010), MA (2007) from Harvard University, and a BA (2001) from the University of Michigan. Dr. Baron has received prestigious awards including the UBC Killam Research Prize (2018) and Association for Psychological Science Rising Star (2013). He advises graduate students and focuses on grants related to developmental and social psychology research.
