Andreja Šolar is a Slovenian conductor and educator currently serving as a professor of wind orchestra conducting at the University of Music Würzburg since fall 2024. She studied conducting at the Ljubljana Academy of Music under Marko Letonja and later specialized in wind orchestra conducting with Jan Cober in the Netherlands.
- Professional experience includes directing a wind orchestra for 17 years, artistic direction, and conducting symphony/orchestral performances with renowned ensembles like Brașov Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), MÁV Symphony Orchestra (Hungary), and Stara Zagora State Opera (Bulgaria).
- Teaching roles: Conducting and piano instruction in Ljubljana, and conducting seminars across Europe.
In 2022, she earned third prize and a special prize at the International Conducting Competition in Brașov, Romania, which solidified her focus on opera conducting. Her research interests span orchestral techniques, wind ensemble pedagogy, and cross-disciplinary conducting methods.
