Andrej Jussow is a Lecturer in Chamber Music Piano within the Keyboard, Guitar, Harp Department at Karlsruhe University of Music, where he also organizes the chamber music course. Born in Ukraine and raised in Germany, he serves as solo pianist for the Württemberg State Theatres in Stuttgart and performs regularly with the Stuttgart State Orchestra across Europe, the USA, Russia, and Japan.
His musical foundation was shaped through decade-long mentorship under Karlsruhe University of Music professors Sontraud Speidel, Michael Uhde, and Markus Stange, with additional artistic enrichment from masters including Evgeni Koroliov, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, and Martha Argerich.
Jussow's artistic identity centers on virtuosic piano performance and chamber music, featuring complete cycles of Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff concertos among his 30+ concerto repertoire. His distinctive interpretative approach—forged through overcoming a rare hand anomaly—earns consistent praise for emotional depth and technical sensitivity, as highlighted by conductor Daniel Harding's description of him as "an impressive pianist ... also a sensitive and charming chamber musician."
His major recognition includes:
- European Cultural Prize
As an educator since his student years, Jussow contributes to Karlsruhe University of Music's pedagogical mission while holding leadership roles as founding board member of the International Society for Art Projects of Classical Music and artistic management member of Classicum - Künstlermanagement für klassische Musiker, bridging performance practice with institutional innovation.
