Andrej Cupák is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Banking and International Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Finance, Bratislava University of Economics and Business (EUBA). He holds a PhD in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Management, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (2015). His roles include serving as a senior researcher at the National Bank of Slovakia and as a member of the ECB's Household Finance and Consumption Network. He also advises the LIS Cross-National Data Center in Luxembourg.
His research focuses on household finance, financial literacy, income/wealth inequality, and applied microeconomics. Notable projects include leading the APVV-20-0359 project on pandemic impacts and contributing to VEGA grants on macroprudential policies and banking regulation.
Cupák has been recognized with the 'Student of the Year of Slovakia' award (2013/2014) and the EUBA Dean's Award for publication excellence (2020, 2021). His work spans over 30 peer-reviewed articles in journals like Applied Economics, Social Science Research, and Economics Letters.
He teaches courses such as Financial Statistics and Econometrics and is involved in the Bee4R Lab, focusing on behavioral economic experiments. His research also examines food security, cryptocurrency investments, and pandemic economic effects.
