Matej Boór is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Finance, Bratislava University of Economics and Business. He holds a PhD and a Dipl. Ing. (engineering degree). His research focuses on fiscal policy, public finance management, effects of government size, and budget theories in monetary unions. He has conducted studies on fiscal rules in the EU, optimal fiscal decentralization in OECD countries, and the impact of fiscal policy on economic growth.

Research Interests: His work explores the interplay between fiscal frameworks and economic stability, particularly in monetary unions. He investigates how fiscal rules influence growth, the optimal size of government, and the role of public finance management in stabilizing economies. His recent studies analyze household financial decision-making during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects of government innovations on economic development in Slovakia.
Projects: He leads or participates in funded projects such as VEGA grants (e.g., 'Fiscal Stabilizers and Their Cyclical Effects in the Slovak Economy') and APVV initiatives focusing on economic competitiveness and growth drivers. His international collaborations include stays at Università degli Studi di Cagliari (Italy) and the ICO NIDA International College in Bangkok, Thailand.
