Andrei Silov

Andrei Silov is an Assistant Professor in the Photonics and Semiconductor Nanophysics group at TU/e's Applied Physics department. His research focuses on the physics of individual nanostructures, including quantum dots, spin manipulation in impurities, and colloidal perovskite nanocrystals. Collaborating with Prof. Paul Koenraad, his work aims to leverage nanoscale properties for future telecom applications.

Education:

• PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Ioffe Institute (1991)
• MSc in Optoelectronics, St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University (1985)

Research Interests: His studies encompass spin-correlated currents, quantum confinement effects, and semiconductor nanostructure physics. Silov emphasizes translating fundamental nanoscale discoveries into practical telecom technologies through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Grants & Advising: Supervised 10 PhD theses as co-promotor. Active in the Semiconductor Nanostructures and Impurities research streams.
