Andrei Maiseyeu, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University in the Department of Medicine (School of Medicine) and the Department of Biomedical Engineering (Case School of Engineering). His research focuses on developing nanotechnology tools for diagnosing and treating cardiometabolic diseases such as atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. He has pioneered contrast agents for MRI of cardiovascular disease and investigates mechanisms of inflammation-driven metabolic disorders. Dr. Maiseyeu's lab integrates drug delivery systems, imaging probe engineering, and molecular biology to address residual risk in atherosclerosis and environmental nanoparticle toxicity.
Education:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Lomonosov Moscow State University (2007)
- MSc and BSc in Chemistry, Lomonosov Moscow State University (2002)
Research Interests:
His work encompasses:
- Nanoparticle-mediated drug delivery and imaging
- Lipoprotein biology and immunometabolism
- Environmental pollution-induced cardiovascular pathologies
- GLP-1 receptor agonist therapies for cardiovascular disease
- Cardiac gene therapy using engineered nanoparticles
Grants & Funding:
Supported by NIH grants, industry partnerships, and foundations like the Alzheimer’s Association. His lab has trained over 25 students and postdocs, many now in academic and industrial roles.
Labs & Collaborations:
Leads the Maiseyeu Lab at Case Western Reserve University, collaborating with institutions like The Ohio State University and the University of Maryland.
