Andreas Öttl

Andreas Öttl is a University Professor (Univ.-Prof) of Trumpet at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, located in the School of Music & Art Education (SOMA). He holds a position in the Wind, Brass & Percussion Department and has been a faculty member since 2015, succeeding Johann Gansch. His career includes tenure as first solo trumpeter with the Bavarian State Orchestra and membership in OperaBrass (Bavarian State Opera). He also maintains ties with the St. Anton am Arlberg brass band.

• Education: Studied under Lothar Hilbrand in Feldkirch and Johann Gansch at Mozarteum University, graduating with distinction in 2002.
• Performance: Engagements include the Salzburg Festival and Rheingau Music Festival.

Teaching: Began teaching orchestral training at Mozarteum University in 2005, serving as Johann Gansch’s assistant before becoming professor in 2015. His pedagogical focus centers on brass instrument mastery and orchestral performance techniques.
