Andreas Winter

Andreas Winter is an ICREA Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, affiliated with the Quantum Information Group (GIQ). He joined GIQ in 2012 after working for 9 years in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Bristol.

His research focuses on foundational aspects of quantum information theory, with specific expertise in:

• Quantum Shannon Theory
• Interplay between Classical and Quantum Information
• Quantum Resource Theories
• Zero-Error Information Theory

As an active researcher, he contributes to theoretical frameworks in quantum computing and communication. His work bridges mathematics and physics, reflecting his transition from a mathematics background to identifying as a physicist. He maintains an active research presence through the GIQ group at UAB, which engages in international collaborations and disseminates findings via arXiv preprints and social media.
