Andreas W. Bett

Prof. Dr. Andreas W. Bett is Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, Germany, and holds the chair in »Solar Energy - Materials and Technologies« at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Freiburg. He has been a key figure at Fraunhofer ISE since 1987, serving in leadership roles including head of the III-V epitaxy group, division director, deputy director, and since 2017, full director.

His research focuses on photovoltaic materials and devices, including silicon and III-V semiconductors, epitaxial growth, solar cell fabrication, concentrator photovoltaics (CPV), perovskite-silicon tandem cells, and system integration. He is a pioneer in high-efficiency solar conversion and industrialization of CPV technology. His recent publications emphasize tandem solar cells, advanced characterization, and energy system transformation. He actively contributes to standardization through IEC TC82 WG7 and the European PV Platform WG3.
