معرفی
Dr. Andreas Schreiber serves as a PostDoc and Group Leader of the Electrochemical Biosensors group at Hahn-Schickard, affiliated with the University of Freiburg's Faculty of Engineering. His research bridges synthetic biology, nanotechnology, and diagnostic applications, with a focus on developing portable homecare diagnostics systems since 2022.
Dr. Schreiber studied chemistry, biology, and sports science at the University of Leipzig, receiving his first state examination in 2007. He earned his doctorate in synthetic biology from the Freiburg Institute of Advanced Studies (FRIAS), where he developed defined biohybrid nanostructures with enhanced optical and magnetic properties using tailor-made protein adapters. His postdoctoral work at the Center for Biosystems Analysis (ZBSA) focused on assembling and modifying protein-based supramolecular nanostructures for targeted drug delivery and artificial cell synthesis.
His research interests center on creating functional biomaterials through protein engineering, with particular emphasis on electrochemical biosensors for point-of-care diagnostics. Dr. Schreiber specializes in developing fully integrated sample-to-answer systems based on isothermal amplification methods and electrochemical detection. His work spans synthetic biology, nanobiotechnology, and the creation of artificial cellular systems, with applications in healthcare diagnostics and therapeutic delivery.
Analysis of his publication record reveals a strong trajectory from fundamental protein engineering toward applied diagnostic systems. Early work focused on protein-based nanostructures and artificial cell models, while more recent research emphasizes practical diagnostic applications. His publications demonstrate expertise in supramolecular protein assembly, bioorthogonal chemistry, and the development of portable diagnostic platforms, showing a clear progression from basic research to translational applications in healthcare.
Dr. Schreiber has received recognition for his research, including a Posterpreis at the Jahrestagung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Biomaterialien in Freiburg (2015).
As Group Leader of the Electrochemical Biosensors group since 2022, Dr. Schreiber directs research on assay development for portable homecare diagnostics. His team works at the intersection of synthetic biology and engineering, developing integrated diagnostic systems that translate laboratory techniques into field-deployable formats. The group's research combines protein engineering with electrochemical detection methods to create user-friendly diagnostic tools.
The Electrochemical Biosensors group operates within Hahn-Schickard's facilities at Georges-Köhler-Allee 103 in Freiburg, collaborating with the University of Freiburg's academic ecosystem. The team focuses on translating fundamental research in protein nanostructures into practical diagnostic applications, particularly for homecare settings where simplicity and reliability are paramount.
