Andreas Schmidt

Andreas Schmidt is a Senior Lecturer in Principal Study Oratorio at the Department of Vocal Studies, Mozarteum University Salzburg (since 2019/20), and holds a permanent position as Senior Lecturer at the Munich University of Music and Theatre. He is actively engaged in teaching, masterclasses, and jury work across Europe, including institutions like the Sibelius Academy Helsinki, Geneva Higher Music School, and the Royal Danish Academy of Music. His expertise spans vocal performance, lied interpretation, and oratorio, with frequent collaborations in concerts and festivals.

Recent engagements include masterclasses at the International Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg (2023–2025), jury roles for competitions like the Sibelius Singing Competition and the German National Academic Foundation scholarships, and performances in venues such as Munich’s Deutsches Theater and Liebfrauen Cathedral. He also serves as an external examiner at institutions like the Geneva Higher Music School and Copenhagen’s Royal Danish Academy.

Research interests focus on vocal pedagogy, lied tradition, and oratorio repertoire. His performances emphasize classical vocal works by composers like Bach, Schubert, Brahms, and Mendelssohn, often paired with collaborative projects involving piano, organ, and chamber ensembles.
