Andreas Morakis

Andreas Morakis is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of History and Archaeology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has previously taught at the University of Crete, University of Patras, and the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki.

Education:

• BA in History from the Department of History and Archaeology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
• MA and PhD in Ancient History (under scholarship) from the same university
• Post-doctoral fellow at the University of Crete

Research Interests:
Greek History of the Archaic and Classical periods, focusing on Economy, Society, Politeia (constitutional frameworks), the History of Megale Hellas (southern Italian colonies), and Greek Numismatics. His work explores intersections of political structures, economic systems, and socio-cultural dynamics in ancient Mediterranean contexts.

Publications Trends:
His scholarship addresses coinage development in Southern Italy, Greek-native relations in Sicily, and the socio-political organization of Megale Hellas colonies. Key themes include economic transitions, colonial governance, and historical analysis through numismatic evidence.
