Andreas Martin Läuchli Herzig

Prof. Andreas Läuchli heads the Laboratory for Theoretical and Computational Physics at Paul Scherrer Institute and holds a full professorship in physics at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

Education:

• Ph.D. in Physics from ETH Zürich (2003)

His research investigates emergent phenomena in strongly correlated quantum systems, spanning condensed matter physics, quantum simulators, and quantum field theories. Current efforts focus on numerical algorithm development for quantum many-body problems and nonequilibrium quantum dynamics. Collaborations bridge theoretical frameworks with experimental groups in quantum materials research.

Laboratory develops advanced computational methods to identify new quantum phases and characterize spectral properties of interacting systems. Research impacts fundamental understanding of quantum magnetism, topological matter, and high-temperature superconductivity mechanisms.
